Colts snatch defensive player of the year from ‘concerned’ eagles

Stephon Gilmore looks ahead to a game.

Stephon Gilmore attracted interest from the Philadelphia Eagles in freelance company, but the offer wasn’t rich enough for his blood. Indianapolis Colts signed All-Pro support for a two-year, $23 million deal, each NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. That means the never-ending quest for a new CB2 in Philly continues.

Rapoport is a guest on Pat McAfee show where he confirms the Eagles’ interest in Gilmore. He didn’t reveal what they offer for the NFL’s 2019 Defensive Player of the Year (if any) but they certainly show interest. Ditto for the Carolina Panthers. Final, Gilmore’s Best Choice turned out to be Indianapolis. The Colts now have two locking corners in Gilmore and Kenny Moore II, plus the tandem safety of Khari Willis and Rodney McLeod.

“When it was discovered that he was visiting [Indianapolis] I’m pretty sure he signed it [there] like this is his best offer,” Rapoport told McAfree, “and there are several other teams interested. The Panthers have some concerns, the Eagles have some, but to me this has always been about your Colts. “

Remember, Gilmore’s wife Gabrielle caused a stir in March when she let everyone know that the Eagles were “calling”. The five-time Pro Bowler has been one of the best full-backs in football since 2012. He has 27 career interceptions (two touchdowns) and 116 clearances.

Safe Visits to Penn Stater Philadelphia

Eagles conducted a visit before the draft with the safety of Penn State Jaquan Brisker on Friday at their practice facility. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound tennis player is considered one of the top players in his position when it comes to the 2022 NFL draft. He played in 34 games at Penn State (21 starts. ) while scoring 153 tackles, 5 interceptions, 14 breakouts and one rebound.

Brisker could slip into the second or third round after a shoulder injury limited him in 2021. The Pittsburgh native has the versatility to be a “moving piece,” according to NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein, and has been compared to the safety of Kansas City Chiefs, Justin Reid. Brisker also has the size and talent to cover tight ends.

Eagles ‘Maybe’ interested in Kyler Murray?

Kyler Murray is still without a new contract from the Arizona Cardinals, leaving some analysts wondering if the 24-year-old midfielder could claim a trade. The Eagles have always stuck to those rumors and Murray fits the mold of the kind of quarterback Philadelphia coveted since missing out on Russell Wilson in 2012.

Will they do a play for Murray? Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio came up with the idea by accident:

Eagles might be interested. In the AFC, the Texans will likely explore this possibility as well.

Whoever did that would have to be willing to pay Murray what he wanted financially and give the Cardinals what they asked for by way of compensation. That could be more than some teams want to invest in. Colts snatch defensive player of the year from ‘concerned’ eagles
