With Leeds United being pushed out of the relegation zone over the past two weeks, Elland Road’s summer transfer plans have come under more focus as the Whites’ status in the Premier League begins to look more secure.
There have been reports of Kalvin Phillips’ future and a possible move for Brenden Aaronson, but the biggest headline-maker in West Yorkshire has been Raphinha.
The Brazilian has been linked with Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool in recent weeks and this week reports emerged that Barca have bid €35m (£29m) for the winger.
Meanwhile, Gialuigi Longari has claimed that the Brazilian has two release clauses in his contract and one of them will come into effect if Los Blancos are relegated.
However, the local Leeds newspaper, the Yorkshire Evening Posthave claimed no offer has been made, there is no release clause and the winger will cost much more than £29m.
The Yorkshire Evening Post is often the most reliable source of news when it comes to Leeds, but the reputable Spanish newspaper AS has it reported that the winger has a €80m (£67m) release clause, muddling the waters even further.
Each outlet has received information it believes to be reliable. Over in Spain the links to Barcelona and Raphinha’s agent Deco are evident, while the Yorkshire Evening Post will have information of good authority from people linked to Leeds United.
It’s not surprising that the Spanish and English press are pulling Raphinha in different directions, but these conflicting reports make it very difficult to understand the reality of Raphinha’s situation.
One thing is for sure, Barcelona are keen on this player but it seems like a deal could be very complicated.
It looks like we might just have to wait and see what happens with the Brazilian this summer.
In other news, Conte said he loves wanting to sign £17m star Tottenham, perfect for Spurs
