Conor Hourihane was just one of several players to congratulate Aston Villa’s Matty Cash on reaching the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Poland.
The Villa midfielder, who is on loan at Sheffield United, wrote “Well done boy”. Cash’s Instagram post.
Tyrone Mings also added in the comments: “Cash man congratulations mate,” while his former Nottingham Forest team-mate Zac Clough called it “incredible”.
Cash made a brave call last year to swap allegiances and opt to represent Poland over England.
It’s a move that has paid off for Villa’s £16million man (Sky Sports) because now he can tell his grandchildren that he got to play on the biggest stage of them all.
While Villa had a mediocre season, Cash excelled on the right, pacing up and down like he had a Ferrari engine on him.
Not many would have guessed it, but Cash has said goodbye to a forward wearing the colors of his boyhood club, Nottingham Forest.
Now he wants to rush up and down the flank in Qatar and feed balls to one of the best strikers in the world, Robert Lewandowski.
But before that, he needs to do business for Villa, including finishing this season on a strong note as he has a great chance of winning the club’s Player of the Season.
Starting next season before the start of the World Cup in November will also be crucial as Steven Gerrard looks to push Villa to Europe.
