Conservatives have criticized NBC for accusing the Conservatives of “deceptively editing” videos of Fetterman

NBC News has faced criticism after it claimed that a conservative social media user edited “misleading videos” of John Fetterman, the Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania Senate.

On Wednesday, NBC News published a report written by Ben Goggin entitled: “Doctoral Videos Exaggerate Fetterman Language Issues in Viral Social Media Posts.”

Goggin claims the “deceptively edited videos” have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times on both Twitter and TikTok.

According to Goggin, the videos were shared by critics of Fetterman.

The outlet noted that Fetterman suffered a stroke in May.

“The videos include minor editing, like cutting out the audience’s audio to make it appear as if he stopped speaking abruptly (some of the interruptions occurred when he paused during moments of applause and the crowd’s reaction, loud unedited videos seen by NBC News),” Coggin wrote.

He continued, “Other edits would cut off Fetterman mid-sentence to give the impression that what he was saying was nonsensical.”

Joe Calvello, a spokesman for Fetterman, told NBC News, “It is quite sad and frankly distressed that Dr. Oz deceptively edited videos of John to mock him as he recovers from a stroke.”

Goggin reported that TikTok removed the videos after NBC News reported them.

The report explains that “Videos of Fetterman’s speech on Sunday built on the speculation and gained the most traction on Twitter when they were posted by Greg Price, a senior digital strategist at X Strategies, a conservative political advisory group.”

According to Twitter messages exchanged with the outlet, Price didn’t respond to questions about “how the videos were edited or where he got them from,” as Goggin reported.

Price took to Twitter to post a lengthy thread responding to the report.

“So NBC News decided to accuse me of covering videos of John Fetterman that I had posted. (I didn’t treat anything). They also reached out to Twitter to try and get them censored,” Price tweeted.

He added, “And the bastards didn’t even record my full commentary!”

Price explained that for a video he “just took things [Fetterman] said at a rally and edited into a supercut.”

Additionally, Price called Goggin a “garbage liberal hack” and a “loser.”

Other users took to the platform to respond to the report:

The report comes just a day after Fetterman I Agree to a televised debate with his Republican opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz next month.
