Conte says he has some really ‘good news’ for Spurs fans

Antonio Conte has reported impeccable health for Tottenham Hotspur fans.

Roughly.

Tottenham continue their Champions League qualifying efforts with a tricky visit to Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs go into the game after a shock defeat by Brighton & Hove Albion last time out.

But the only players Conte is missing are the long-term absentees – like Matt Doherty, Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp – who the Italy manager has branded as “good news”.

He said the club’s official website: “We have these three players out and no further news, which is good news.”

Thrust?

In a word, definitely.

This is a massive phase of the season for Tottenham.

They are fourth in the Premier League but only ahead of Arsenal on goal difference with seven games each.

In other words, it’s absolutely good news that Conte has no further injury worries apart from those who have been ruled out for some time.

We’ve seen how damaging it can be for competitive clubs to miss out on great players, as injury-plagued Arsenal have lost their last three Premier League games before beating Chelsea last night.

So if Tottenham are mostly fit for Saturday’s trip to join Thomas Frank’s troops, that bodes well.

In other news, Tottenham would like to sign a midfielder like Kante but he could join Bayern instead
