Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte wants Arsenal transfer target Djed Spence to replace Emerson Royal The sun.
The report in the British tabloid claims Tottenham boss Conte has made Spence, on loan from Middlesbrough at Nottingham Forest, “his main target” to replace Emerson at right-back.
Middlesbrough reportedly values the 21-year-old right-back at £15million.
The sun have added that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are also keen on signing Spence.
Tottenham paid Barcelona £25.73m for Emerson in summer 2021 (Sky Sports).
Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur for Djed Spence?
In our view, Djed Spence would be better off at Tottenham Hotspur than Arsenal if he is set to leave Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window.
Now the 21-year-old naturally wants to stay at Nottingham Forest if the Reds win promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.
However, if it’s a direct choice between Arsenal and Tottenham, we think the right-back should choose Spurs.
Arsenal have an established right-back in Takehiro Tomiyasu, meaning Spence would play second fiddle to the Japan international at the Emirates Stadium.
Based on the report in The sunit seems Conte would like the Middlesbrough right-back to be his first-choice right-back right away.
