Courtney Owens has been identified as the 34-year-old woman from Snellville, Georgia who was shot by a masked man at a car dealership.

“The victim has been identified as Courtney Owens; 34 years old from Snellville. Owens was an employee of the company where the incident occurred,” Gwinnett County, Georgia authorities wrote in a press release on December 12, 2022.

According to WSB TVOwens was shot dead at the Royal Court Motors dealership where she worked near the Centerville Highway.

On December 9, 2022, the press release said, the Gwinnett Police Department Homicide Unit began “investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a woman.”

“About 2:30 p.m., Southside Borough officers responded to a call to a business shot dead by a person. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult woman dying from a gunshot wound in a store. A witness described a man wearing a mask with a firearm who left the scene on foot,” the press release said.

The motive remains unknown, but the suspect may have known the store or the victim, detectives believe.

According to press release, the Crime Scene Unit “is currently working through the crime scene. Homicide investigators are speaking with potential witnesses and searching the area for additional security footage. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown, although detectives believe the suspect may have been known to the victim or the company.”

Owens was remembered as a “heart of gold”.

An anonymous family member told WSB-TV, “She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and she had a heart of gold.”

The family member added, “There are no words to express how much she was loved and missed.”

The suspect is not in custody. The busy intersection where the dealership is located is near a Walmart store near Snellville.

A woman wrote on Facebook, “Rip Classmate & Neighborhood Friend. I hate that this happened to you. My condolences 💐 to your family 🥺.”

September 2022, Owens wrote on Facebook, “Queen, that’s respect and love life, I love me.”

On January 1, she wrote: “So many things look great on the outside, but over the years I know I’ve learned things aren’t what they really seem. My priority for 2022 is love, happiness and peace. I know all great things are coming behind these, God bless me.”

She also shared a video showing her at the dealership.

In 2017, she wrote on Facebook, “Today is the day I will be worth every moment. Today I will be the best woman I can be. Today is my day, every day from today will be my day where I come first. Whoop whoop lol.”

She also wrote: “I am the MOST BEAUTIFUL woman in the world! The love in my heart is REAL, my LOYALTY is RARE, better watch how you treat me.”
