Pressure is mounting on Mike McCarthy as we head into 2022.

The Dallas Cowboys could be top contenders to sign star Odell Beckham Jr. Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson noticed Beckham signing with a team during the off-season as he neared a return to the pitch. NFL insiders have labeled the Cowboys, Buccaneers, Saints and Packers as potential landing spots for Beckham.

“I think there are people in the OBJ family that have always wanted to see him play for the Cowboys,” Robinson explained in a June 15, 2022 episode of “You Pod to Win the Game.” “And I think he’s also smart enough to know, ‘Okay, I’ve got my thing with the Rams, won my ring.’ If the Cowboys played really well, I’m sorry, but that’s Dallas. Dallas is Dallas and if that guy goes out there and plays football.

“Assuming he plays the way he played for the Rams with Dallas, love for him and by the way, they can use him. Like, let’s see what this offense looks like. So let’s see how it merges with Dallas, but I think because, again, the end of its family, and Dallas has always been the team he’s considered and all that. this each other. “

OBJ may be loyal until November when WR recovers from ACL injury

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on March 3 that Beckham is expected to be able to play in early November after sustaining an ACL injury during the Rams’ Super Bowl win. Beckham could wait until he is fully recovered to join a team and assess his best chances around mid-season.

After Beckham was released by the Browns, the star player became one of the main focal points of the Rams’ offense and a major reason Los Angeles won the Super Bowl. Beckham scored 27 tackles for 305 yards and five touchdowns in eight appearances for the Rams last season.

Questions facing the Cowboys at the Wide Receiver

After dealing with Amari Cooper this season, the Cowboys said they’re not worried about the current state of the receiver depth chart. Outside of CeeDee Lamb, however, the Cowboys have few sure things to expand on. Dallas is expected to rely on Michael Gallup to become the team’s second player, but the quarterback is recovering from a season-end ACL injury that requires surgery.

Dallas has signed James Washington and drafted Jalen Tolbert with both players expected to compete for the WR3 role. Depending on Gallup’s health at the start of the season, Washington and Tolbert may be asked to take on increased workloads until the recipient is fully healthy.

The Cowboys have plenty of limited space to make a few more significant moves in terms of management freedom but have been quiet since the draft ended in April. According to Spotrac, the Cowboys are estimated to have around $21.1 million left in cap space, which is huge amounts of money to be Beckham’s highest bidder whenever he signs with a team.

With Beckham continuing to not sign, it’s reasonable to think the extender won’t sign a team until the season begins. The Cowboys will be able to gauge the state of their extended runs at that point, but Beckham will slip into the Cowboys offense as the receiver of the pass.
