Craig Conover opened up about his decision to change his behavior — and his body — after filming the second season of Winter House in early 2022.

In a December 2022 interview, the “Southern Charm” veteran revealed that after filming the spinoff show at a Vermont party house, he was forced to take a hard look at himself.

Conover started the season eligible, throwing down $1,000 on the master bedroom and refusing to help cook or clean the house. via He also drank heavily during the trip, at one point freaking out at Luke Gulbranson, and viewers slapping him for talking about Lindsay Hubbard’s looks behind their back.

In an interview in December 2022 with men’s healthConover said he had “a tough couple of weeks” shooting “Winter House” and that he made big changes soon after.

“I couldn’t justify my behavior anymore,” said the Bravo star. “I’ve always been able – and it sounds silly – to justify my drinking or my behavior because it was ‘filming.’ There was a point when we were shooting Winter House where I was like, ‘This isn’t the person I want to be. I’m not the person on the outside that I feel like I am on the inside.’”

Conover admitted it took him until his mid-30s to realize he wasn’t his “highest self.” “I hated seeing where I was letting my body get, but it was really just my psyche [health],” he said. “I had nothing but an unhealthy routine of drinking and procrastinating.”

The Bravo star finally decided to get in shape after filming “Winter House” wrapped in Vermont. Working with a trainer, Conover took up walking outdoors to clear his head and changed his diet, eating cleaner foods and cutting down on alcohol. He also revealed he’s a happier person all round after losing 20 pounds.

In his tell-all book “Pillow talk: What’s wrong with my sewing?” Conover previously revealed that he was addicted to the prescription drug Adderall.

“It was maybe the sixth season reunion [but] I had never spoken about it,” he said said E! news in 2022. “And finally, I just sat there on the stage and thought, all the questions that were asked and all the issues that were raised, I mean, the answer was Adderall.”

In an interview with people In August 2022, Conover revealed that “Adderall Craig” weighed a meager 165 pounds, and when he came off the drug he reached his “healthy weight” of 185 pounds. But then he started eating a lot of junk food and gained another 20 pounds. When the scale tipped over 200 pounds, Conover said he “knew” he needed to do something about his weight.

“I made the decision one day that no matter how crappy it was, I was going to go back to the gym,” he revealed. “And it sucked.”
