Crown Court date for a man charged with the murder of Elle Edwards
THE man accused of killing Elle Edwards is also accused of possessing a submachine gun in the pub where she was killed in a shooting on Christmas Eve.
Connor Chapman, 22, appeared before Wirral Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with nine counts in connection with the Lighthouse Pub incident in Wallasey Village, Wirral, on December 24.
Ms Edwards, a 26-year-old beautician, was fatally shot just before midnight but is not believed to have been the intended target in the attack, which injured four men.
Chapman, who wore a gray tracksuit and long hair, was accused of possessing a converted Scorpion submachine gun and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

In addition to the murder of Mrs Edwards, the court heard he was charged with the attempted murder of Jake Duffy and Kieran Salkeld and unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm on Harry Loughran, Nicholas Speed and Liam Carr.
He was also charged with handling stolen property, a Mercedes A-Class car, between December 22 and 26 last year.

Chapman, who was wearing a gray jogging set, spoke to confirm his name and date of birth and said he had no permanent address.
The hearing, attended by a dozen members of the press, lasted about three minutes.
Taken into custody
The bank’s chairman, Susie Haggstrom, told Chapman he was being remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday.
The court heard the judges were barred from considering the bail issue and could only refer the case to the Crown Court.
A 23-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to a criminal has been released on bail pending further investigation, Merseyside Police said on Friday.
Three other people were previously arrested in connection with the murder.
A 31-year-old man from Tranmere, Wirral, and a 19-year-old woman from Rock Ferry, Wirral, have been held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and have been released on bail pending further investigation.
A 30-year-old Tranmere man arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder has been recalled to prison on a warrant.
