Crystal Dynamics is asking fans if they want a new Legacy of Kain game

Crystal Dynamics has released a poll asking fans if they would like to see a return to the Legacy of Kain franchise.

As Eurogamer reports, the poll raises several questions that show the Tomb Raider and Deus Ex developer is at least considering a possible return of the beloved, long-dormant series. The survey asks users which consoles they play on, if they’ve heard of or played a Legacy of Kain game before, or if they’ve watched someone play the games on YouTube or Twitch.

It also asks very explicitly how fans would feel if a new Legacy of Kain were announced and whether they would rather see a remake, remaster, reboot or sequel and what specific features they would like a new game to contain.

To further test the waters, the poll also asks fans what they think of games featuring vampires in general, a concept that has recently seen viral success with the likes of V Rising and Vampire Survivors.

Of course, this doesn’t confirm that a new Legacy of Kain game is on the way, but Crystal Dynamics recently changed hands after Embracer Group bought it and two other studios from Square Enix.

The colossal holding company has also made it clear that it plans to probe these developers’ back catalogues, announcing in May that it sees “great potential” in crafting sequels, remakes, remasters and spin-offs of dormant franchises. Legacy of Kain certainly fits the bill, with 2003’s Legacy of Kain: Defiance being the most recent entry in the franchise.

Legacy of Kain is a series of action-adventure games focused on vampires living in the dark fantasy world of Nosgoth. They were notable for their high writing quality and puzzle-solving alongside the action, gaining many fans in the process. Uncharted creator Amy Hennig directed some of the games while she was at Crystal Dynamics.
