Crystal Palace could step in and beat Tottenham Hotspur to sign Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards this summer.
This is according to the Daily Mailwho claim that Palace Edwards is now looking to lure them to Selhurst Park.
Edwards is claimed to be worth around £15million, with Peterborough potentially open to a sale if they consider League One life again.
Edwards is their most valuable asset and there could be huge Premier League bids on the way should Peterborough drop out of the Championship.
However, Tottenham are also keen on Edwards and are considering a move of their own when the summer transfer window opens.
Edwards, 19, was picked up by Barnet in 2020 after playing just five games for the non-league side.
Edwards only played six games last season but has starred this season, making 34 appearances for the championship side.
Edwards, an England Under-19 international with six caps, appears poised for a great future with Premier League clubs circling.
This could be deja vu for Palace and Tottenham after last summer’s chase by Joachim Andersen.
The Telegraph reported Just this weekend Tottenham were keen to sign Andersen but backed out of a deal amid management uncertainty.
This allowed Palace to step in and sign Andersen and the Dane has become a key man for Patrick Vieira this season.
Palace could now hope to repeat the trick with Edwards, especially as the path to first-team football may be clearer.
Vieira has helped nurture young players like Marc Guehi, Tyrick Mitchell and Michael Olise this season and show how Edwards could develop.
That must please Edwards, but if Tottenham lands Champions League football it will be tempting for the teenage prodigy too.
