CS:GO 2’s amazing AI concept makes you hope that Valve will take notes

This isn’t going to look good.

Counter-Strike is the talk of the town at the moment as rumors of a new CS:GO version built into Source 2 have been circulating for a few weeks, but we still haven’t heard anything official from Valve. As anticipation grows and speculation rages, one content creator turned to artificial intelligence to create a mock-up of what a future CS game could look like, and the results are absolutely stunning.
Now it has to be said that the images you will see in 3kliksphillip’s video are a far cry from what CS:GO 2 is likely to actually look like. As he admits, it’s probably closer to Unreal Engine 5 than Source 2 in terms of graphical fidelity, like e.g. B. the photorealistic nature of the image overhauls that the AI has generated. In any case, it’s a fun thought experiment to think about what tactical shooters like Counter-Strike might look like in a decade or two, if not the coming weeks, as we still believe (read hope pray) that the time frame is Valve will finally show its hand.
As you hear 3kliksphillip explain, the AI image generator works by providing a base image and then passing snippets of information to the algorithm, which it then incorporates into something new. Since these snippets don’t need to be coded or complex in any way, it’s easy to see how pretty much anyone can program the AI to create plausible renderings of basically anything. You’ll also see how two images can be combined to create something entirely new, creating a series of hybrid-looking CS maps. It’s fascinating stuff and a bit scary too!
We’ll have to wait and see how CS:GO 2’s human rendition differs from its AI counterpart. Until then, Twinfinite has also covered a few other AI interpretations of various games, including a B-grade horror movie rendition of 80’s Resident Evil games.
