Dancing On Ice returned on Sunday night with The Vivienne, who made history on the ITV show and became the first drag queen to perform with viewers branding her a ‘superstar’.

The Vivienne and her pro partner Colin Grafton were delighted as they scored a total of 28.5 points out of 40 with Ashley, Oti and Jayne giving her 7 points while Chris gave 7.5 points.

Oti praised the premiere of The Vivienne: “If you want to make history, make history, congratulations!”

Impressed, Chris said: “A star was born on the ice tonight. Our very own diva on the ice, but you are by far our best skater.”

He then quoted Cher as saying, “We all invent ourselves, but some just have more imagination.”

The drag queen looked sensational in a black mesh catsuit with shimmering detailing on the front, while Colin wore a matching top and leather pants.

Later in the show, John Fashanu became the first star in the lineup to be eliminated from the ITV series.

Meanwhile, Carley Stenson and her professional partner Mark Hanretty topped the rankings with the highest-scoring series to date.

After the five celebrities performed in the second week, it was revealed that John would face Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu in the skate-off, with both pairs performing new routines.

Judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean all agreed and voted for Ekin-Su to remain in the competition as she “incorporates more technical skating into her routine”.

When asked by hostess Holly Willoughby if he liked the experience or not, John replied: “Oh it was great,” before saying it was like the FA Cup final again.

Co-host Phillip Schofield then asked the ex-footballer if he would “keep skating”, to which he replied: “Oh yes! I’ll keep skating and who knows, maybe I’ll even start teaching people.”

Skate off: After the five celebrities performed in week two, it was revealed that John Ekin-Su would face Cülcüloğlu in the skate off, with both pairs performing new routines

Terrible: It was a rough start to the series for Love Island fan-favorite Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, who ended up in the last two by receiving the fewest public votes

John and his professional partner Alexandra Schauman scored 19 out of 40 points for their athletic performance.

Speaking of the former footballer’s routine, Chris said: “I think you’re the most improved skater since boot camp. You were a drag in boot camp but you made it, you were stable out there.’

Many viewers at home complained that John’s skate-off routine was almost identical to his main skate.

They took to Twitter to express their frustration with ITV at the amount of voting time allotted in week two – and found they didn’t even get a chance to get to the page before voting ended.

Tough Decision: Judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean all agreed and voted to keep Ekin-Su in competition as she “incorporated more technical skating into her routine”.
