“Dancing With the Stars” professional dancers

ABC’s Dancing With the Stars has already made some behind-the-scenes changes for season 31, with executive producer Andrew Llinares leaving the show. Now fans are wondering what other changes might be made ahead of the season premiere.

Dancing With the Stars is slated to return in fall 2022, likely to premiere sometime in mid-September. That means the casting won’t be announced until the end of August at the earliest, if the pattern holds.

Fans want fewer theme nights

in one Reddit thread, some fans have been calling for changes for the upcoming season after Llinares’ departure. Calling for the return of themed nights like Most Memorable Year and Latin Night, the poster called for the show to “give creative control back to the pros” and “instead of those staged packages, show the couples’ journey throughout the season.” ”

Some people specifically want changes to Disney Night, a themed night that happens every season.

“If they want to continue Disney Night, they need to stop recycling the same songs/themes.” one person answered. “There are so many songs they’ve never done.”

Some people want fewer themed nights overall.

“Fewer theme nights/promo for other productions on some streaming platforms (Disney+, Hulu, etc.)” one person wrote.

Another demanded “Better balance of theme nights maybe only 3 theme nights 4 max.”

Fans want the pros and celebrities to have more prominence

Throughout the thread, fans have been calling for more prominence for both professional dancers and celebrities, and for bringing back the troupe of professional dancers.

“Bring back a full troupe and only use them when needed at the celebrity dances.” one person wrote. “They can do other dances between commercials.”

another wrote, “HIGHLIGHT THE ADVANTAGES!! They don’t even use the last names of the pros anymore, or their names in the youtube videos of the dances.”

Some want the professional dancers to have more control over the dances and song choices.

“The pro who regains creative control and the producers who are less obvious about their cards and who they want us to vote for are the ones that come to mind.” one person wrote.

Fans also demanded that “Dancing With the Stars” should emulate its UK counterpart, “Strictly Come Dancing.” Some would like the show to bring back professional dancer opening numbers and announce the couples early, much like Strictly does.

Fans want to vote overnight

Some fans also want the show to be expanded to two nights a week instead of just one night, as voting is currently taking place during the show’s airing on the East Coast, meaning West Coast viewers won’t have a say on which of the Celebrities and professionals go home every week.

“Let the other half of the country choose” one person wrote. “Also, I’d like some transparency on how votes and scores combine, although they never will.”

Others called for a co-host or new host and a better selection of songs in the episodes. Some pros also want fewer pairs as there are multiple weeks of double eliminations when there are 15 pairs on the show.

Dancing With the Stars has not yet been renewed for season 31. If renewed, the show will return sometime in mid-September 2022.
