‘Dancing With the Stars’ pro Cheryl Burke wants another role on the competitive show.
“Dance with the Stars” Professional dancer Cheryl Burke has been part of the competitive show since Season 2 as a professional, but she’s hoping to step into a different role in the future.
Burke revealed himself October 2021 to Hello! magazine that she wanted to retire from dancing professionally on the show, but hoped to stay on as a judge or host on “Dancing With the Stars” or “Strictly Come Dancing.”
“I’ve been begging for this job, how many seasons does a girl have to do?” Burke joked with the outlet.
At 38, Burke has spoken openly about the toll professional dancing has taken on her body and her desire to retire from her role as a professional on the show and pursue a different position.
Burke shared her hopes for her future on ‘Dancing With the Stars’
In a new interview with us weekly Burke revealed what she hopes to do on the competition’s reality show in the future.
“I hope to be a judge or co-host on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ in the near future,” Burke told the outlet.
Burke would like to retire at some point because she feels she is getting old to be a professional ballroom dancer, she along with Elizabeth Vargas, a former ABC news anchor on the Heart of the Matter podcast. The podcast is part of a partnership to end addiction that Burke has felt passionate about. The interview took place in 2021 and Burke has since started her next season of Dancing With the Stars.
“I was going through personal issues and everything was so uncertain. I’m 37 will I…” Burke shared. “That doesn’t make sense, and that’s in October. But the question mark, how long can I live as a dancer? Let’s face it, many women in their early 30s are retiring. It’s not a sport you can hold on to forever, especially as a woman, and I don’t want to be the person who looks like old granny here barely kicks her leg.”
She also said that there are many young women entering the field, which can be very ego draining at times.
“But I still don’t know, I have so many question marks. And again, that’s how scary it is to live with uncertainty,” she shared.
Burke says she feels “peace” with season 31 of Dancing With the Stars after finishing in the bottom two
During the third week of season 31 of “Dancing With the Stars,” it was revealed that Burke and her partner Sam Champion were among the last two in the competition.
Burke later said Us Weekly that she was content with the fact that they were almost sent home.
“This season in particular, there is peace along with the entire elimination process,” Burke shared. “I’m usually a nervous, sweaty wreck, but with Sam, when I look at the actual skills of all the celebrities? We are very blessed to still be in this competition to be honest and Sam knows it.”
She also told the outlet that each season of the show gets harder.
“Each season is much more challenging than the previous seasons,” shared Burke. “Everyone is so talented. Everyone has their thing. And Sam and I are just happy to be here.”
