The Las Vegas Raiders have mostly overhauled the inside of their defense apart from re-signing Johnathan Hankins. New defensive coordinator Patrick Graham showed no interest in bringing in many defensive saves from last season. However, there is one more player from last season that could have a chance of being brought in.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Raiders staged a visit with defensive Darius Philon.

He was with the team last season and showed a really strong burst. Unfortunately, injuries have derailed his season. He was placed on the Injury Reserve at the start of the season but eventually returned. In his final game against the Los Angeles Chargers, he tore a muscle tendon. Philon suffered an unfortunate injury last season but he has good juice as a fast runner, which is exactly what the Raiders need in defence. It’s unclear what his recovery timeline is as he was injured in the final game of the regular season. His injury concerns may be the reason he has yet to sign.

Philon Responds to Raiders Rumors

Philon has not been shy on social media about wanting to return to the team. The Raiders gave him a chance after he had been out of the league for two seasons. Former defensive coordinator Gus Bradley has coached him in the past so it would make sense for Graham not to quickly want to sign him.

Raid fans have praised Philon’s tenacity on the field and personality on social media. Many of them have come forward to urge the team to sign him after news of his visit broke. Philon responded to fans, saying only that he’s “grateful for the opportunity to play the game I love.”

It’s unclear exactly what he meant when he wrote this tweet. After his visit with the Raiders, he must still be unclear about what his future holds. He clearly wants to stay with the team but they have yet to fulfill their commitment to him. There’s still plenty of time before training camp begins so the Raiders can wait and see how he recovers from last season’s injury before handing him over to his contract.

Raiders are more defensive in relation to crime

Raiders offense is loaded. Derek Carr, Darren Waller, Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, and Josh Jacobs have all made Pro Bowls. Not to mention Kolton Miller and Kenyan Drake, who were proven to be great players but didn’t make it to the Pro Bowl. On defense, things were even worse. Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones form one of the best hurdles duo in the NFL but there are question marks at every level.

Trayvon Mullen and Rock Ya-Sin have a lot of potential at full-back but they are young and have not proven to be consistent starters. Safety is also a team need. The NFL is becoming increasingly offensive and the Raiders know it. The possibility is that the team has a very good defense but that is less certain than the attack.
