Dauphin County Commissioners approve $8.3 million in county programs

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – Dauphin County Commissioners are awarding gambling funds from Hollywood Casino to provide improvement projects for schools and communities.
These projects include emergency services, affordable housing projects, food banks and shelters, and youth and veterans programs and services.
“The fruits of the local stock program have been plentiful and continue to impact every corner of Dauphin County,” said Commissioner Chair Mike Pries. “Otherwise, these transformative projects would have to be paid for with taxpayers’ money.”
The commissioners on Wednesday, February 22, approved the award of 151 projects using funds from the casino’s local equity program. The Dauphin County Gaming Advisory Board provided commissioners with recommendations for recipients of the funding.
“Casino earnings have become a gift that keeps being given,” Commissioner Chad Saylor said. “And we pride ourselves on the transparent, fair and inclusive selection process that ensures every applicant is considered.”
