David Schwimmer reveals the tragic reason he signed up for Celebrity Bake Off
David Schwimmer has revealed the tragic reason he signed up to appear on The Great Celebrity Bake Off For Stand Up To Cancer.
The 56-year-old actor explained he wanted to take part in the charity special because his grandma died of the disease, as did his ex-wife Zoe Buckman’s mother.
In footage obtained by The Mirror ahead of Sunday’s episode, he also told viewers his sister Ellie had also been battling cancer.
The ‘Friends’ star said: “I lost a grandmother to cancer, my daughter lost a grandmother to cancer and my sister survived cancer so it’s important to me.
“I’m just grateful that I can help in any way to raise awareness.

His passionate caption read, “National Siblings Day was yesterday and I just wanted to take a moment to celebrate and thank my big sister…
“She was there for me through thick and thin, through so much laughter and, yes, tears (like when she ‘accidentally’ slammed the bathroom door into my hand)…
“I couldn’t be more grateful to have such an amazing person in my life. i love you ellie And don’t forget… I’ll always be younger. Ha.’
