Speaking on Seaman says PodcastDavid Seaman discussed Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli after their Everton debut.
Van de Beek and Alli did not have a dream debut for the Toffees. They ended up wrong in the 3-1 loss to Newcastle, and they didn’t really affect the game much.
Seaman says he expected these two to have an immediate impact at Goodison Park, but they have yet to meet their requirements.
What did Seaman say?
The former goalkeeper has given his views on Everton’s two latest signings.
“I was not convinced by Dele Alli when he came on and Van de Beek was also silent. I know it can take a while to get started, but these are players who have something to prove and you would have thought they might want to impress from the start. Alli made a couple of nice runs after he came on, but he failed to track, he let the ball go ahead of one of the goals and he was pretty sluggish,” co-owner Seaman’s home said.
“I know what you’re saying to van de Beek and Alli, they’re big signings for Everton, you’d expect them to come in and make the difference right away or really impose themselves, but we’ve didn’t really see that against Newcastle,” said Seaman.
Should make an impact
As Seaman’s co-host said, it can take a while to start at a new club, but these two players shouldn’t be used as an excuse.
Both players know the Premier League well, and with Frank Lampard just taking over at Everton, they are in the same boat as every other player tactically.
Alli and van de Beek are brought in to make an impact this season, and they need to step up in the coming months.
