Galatasaray are now finalizing their deal to sign Lucas Torreira on a permanent transfer from Arsenal. And David Seaman told it Sky sports news (06/08, 09:45) that he hopes it will prove to be a beneficial move for the midfielder after falling out of favor under Mikel Arteta.

Torreira spent the 2020/21 season in Spain with Atletico Madrid while they won La Liga. However, his efforts in the Spanish capital did not result in a recall and Arsenal sent the 26-year-old back to Italy instead. However, a successful spell with Fiorentina hasn’t prevented his departure.

The Serie A side Torreira played 31 league games in which he scored five goals and provided two assists. But his hopes of a permanent transfer to Fiorentina were dashed, as Torreira said El Telegrafo were “various issues” during negotiations with Arsenal.

Arsenal takes a big hit on that £26 million Fee Unai Emery paid Sampdoria to sign Torreira in 2018. makeIzio Romano notes that Galatasaray will only pay around 6-7 million euros (5-6 million pounds) for his arrival in Istanbul. The Gunners are also ready to close the deal as soon as possible.

Seaman is hoping that with the move to the Super Lig Torreira will find a new home where he can play a consistent role. The 39-cap Dynamo made 89 appearances for Arsenal but only started in 41 of their 63 Premier League games out of a potential 67 appearances over two seasons.

“The fans loved his energy and they have a soft spot for him,” Seaman said. “If it works for him, then good for him because he hasn’t played in a while.

“Whenever you are a player you need playing time because you need that experience. You have to make the decisions that you have to make regularly in a game. But yes, good luck to him if he goes there.
