DDG rocked Twitter after showing off his “real voice”.

A video of DDG speaking in his ‘real voice’ has been circulating and the internet doesn’t know how to act!
DDG toggles it during podcast performance
The clip in question is from DDG’s appearance on the Dope as usual Podcast that took place in October.
During the interview, presenter Dope, as Yola, brought up speculation he had heard about DDG’s “real voice”.
“We had about 200 people saying, ‘Ask [DDG] about his true voice.’ What does that mean? Is that an inside joke?”
In response, DDG confirmed the speculation was true, then flaunted his “true voice.”
He continued to use a much deeper voice than the one he uses when in public and the presenter was visibly shocked by this revelation. In turn, the rapper began “9 Lives” with his higher-pitched voice to offer an explanation.
“I just talk like that when I’m trying to make music and make content and shit.”
DDG then switched back to a lower pitch to get his point across.
“But I really talk like that in real life. You can ask anyone. That’s really how I speak.”
The clip ends with him explaining that the change is part of his personality, as he emphasized, “You have to make a character.”

DDG shared that his deeper voice was due to “ruptured vocal cords.”
It’s worth pointing out here that DDG previously explained why he can switch between vocal tones so effortlessly.
Back in 2017, he uploaded a video explaining that when he was a very young child, he swallowed a dime that “burst.” [his] Vocal cords.”
He went on to refute claims that his deeper voice was “edited,” sharing that he just doesn’t like showing off his “real voice.”
