Luckily for White, a new chorale show is being introduced in Wilmington, Delaware, this year.
The parent organization, “Inspiring Creativity for Seniors”, recently celebrated its 15th semester of existence. With chapters in Washington DC, New York, California, etc., conductor David Simmons wanted to establish a chapter in his new hometown of Wilmington.
“We are going to give them the opportunity to join a music organization where they feel comfortable and feel rewarded and most of all, they have a sense of community and have fun,” said Simmons.
Today’s free vocal warm-up and practice session served as an open at-home information session for interested seniors in the area. Registration for the fall semester, the first in Wilmington, will open online at EncoreCreativity.org on Monday, July 18.
Participants will be given a 14-15 week course, which takes place every Thursday morning. It will culminate with a performance in December of this year.
Local resident Mark Clark is grateful to have the show in his backyard because the music has paved the way for him to overcome a speech impediment.
“I used to sing in church choirs and I never gave up,” Clark said. “And I can say it more clearly now. I’m very, very grateful and I’m blessed.”
