Derek Hough & Hayley Erbert are moving up the timeline for having a baby

Dancing With the Stars champion and judge Derek Hough and his fiancé Hayley Erbert have pushed up their schedule to starting a family after meeting Rome, son of Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy, as the couple in one Interview with revealed ET online.

“There was no rush [having kids] until we just met Val and Jenna Chmerkovskiy’s baby, and there it was kind of, ‘Shall we do this now?'” Hough told the outlet.

Hough added, “It was pretty special and actually cool because Val was like, ‘Bro, for someone made to create, this will be your ultimate creation.”

Hough said, “Why wait?” about having children

Speaking to ET Online, Erbert said Hough was “in tears” after meeting Rom.

“Actually, it kind of got us thinking, yeah, why wait?” Hough told the outlet.

Johnson and Chmerkovskiy welcomed their son on January 10, 2023.

“Our world has changed forever” wrote the couple alongside a picture of her hands intertwined with her baby’s fingers.

Johnson revealed Rome’s name and face in an Instagram post on February 7, 2023.

“I can’t believe I’ve been completely infatuated with you for 4 weeks,” Johnson wrote in the post. “Thank you for opening my heart wide and showing me what unconditional love is. Mom and Dad love you so much!!!! **The left dimple melts me every time.”

Hough and Erbert uploaded photos from meeting Rom to their now-defunct Instagram Stories.

Hough & Erbert go on tour

Hough and Erbert will be touring in 2023, Hough revealed during a Feb. 17, 2023, appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The tour called “A Symphony of Dance” is planned for autumn 2023. Erbert will accompany him on the show.

“What’s really special is that I haven’t toured with Hayley since we’ve been together,” he said. “We met on tour.”

He also shared the story of the couple’s first kiss, which happened onstage while they performed a rumba together.

Hough and Erbert announced their engagement on June 2, 2023 after seven years together. The couple shared a YouTube video her engagement story.

Hough said he originally intended to propose during the couple’s April 2022 trip to Tulum, Mexico, but changed his mind before making the trip. Erbert later shared that she suspected he would propose at that point.

“I actually had a feeling he was going to do it in Tulum. … I told a couple of my friends, so it’s kind of a good thing he didn’t do it in Tulum, otherwise I kind of expected it,” Erbert said during the video.

Instead, Hough proposed to Erbert at her home.

“Our home is where we built our lives together,” Erbert said in the video. “We were quarantined there together for almost two years. It all started here, so it’s a special place for us.”

Dancing With the Stars is slated to return to Disney+ in fall 2023.
