Professional dancer and ‘Dancing With the Stars’ judge Derek Hough is celebrating his career after saying he knows he’s ‘officially there’.

In a funny video he posted on his Instagram storiesHough tells his followers he knows he’s made it now based on something that happened during the NBA playoffs.

“I’m getting a lot of videos from all my friends right now because I seem to have done the NBA halftime show,” he said. “I am very proud of my work that they showed there. So, without further ado, have fun.”

He captioned the video, “I officially made it.”

Hough then shows a clip from the halftime show in which the analysts show funny tweets from viewers of the game and tag them #NBAonTNT.

That tweet in question contains a GIF of Hough speaking at high speed and the caption reads, “Shaq lip-syncing Kenny.”

In the background, one of the analysts tells Shaquille O’Neal, “You look good man” in reference to the tweet.

Hough was reacting to the move from Dancing With the Stars to Disney+

Derek Hough and other “Dancing With the Stars” cast members took the time to react to the show’s move to Disney+ after it was announced.

He wrote on his Instagram Stories at the time: “DWTS has always been a trailblazer. NEW CHAPTER.”

Cheryl Burke, another professional dancer on the show, said Us Weekly that she’s excited because it means viewers on both coasts can vote at the same time, rather than the west coast being left out.

“It’s an exciting new chapter for the show and the streaming world in general,” she said. “Now the West Coast can vote in real time. I’m excited for the show opportunities on Disney+ and how we’ll be able to do quick edits and set changes without commercial breaks!”

She added, “I think it’s great that we have the opportunity for potential new fans to discover us, knowing that this change will give our loyal fans something to look forward to over the past 30 seasons.”

Hough returns to Vegas

Hough is returning to Vegas for his residency, he announced in February 2022.

“WE ARE BACK BABY!” he continued to write Instagram on February 8th. “After the incredible success of last year, we decided to continue this party in LAS VEGAS!!!! MAY – SEPTEMBER . Can’t wait to get back in there and give you all a great show. Here we go!!! @venetianvegas.”

Hough’s “No Limits” show lasts about 90 minutes and features many different styles of dance, including tap, ballroom, salsa and hip-hop. There is a live band accompanying the dancers and Derek himself even picks up his guitar and sings on stage once.

Hough will be joined throughout the show by his longtime girlfriend, Hayley Erbert.

There have been no casting announcements for Dancing With the Stars season 31, and with the move to a new service, it’s unclear when those announcements will be made. If the show sticks to the schedule it has maintained over the past few years, it is slated to return in September 2022, and the cast will be announced in the weeks leading up to that premiere.

Dancing With the Stars returns to a new home in Fall 2022. The show will now air live exclusively on Disney+ instead of ABC.
