Deshaun Watson apologizes to the women he influenced after being accused of sexual misconduct

As Deshaun WatsonEligibility to play for the upcoming season remains after the NFL appealed the six-game suspension originally imposed by Disciplinary Officer Sue L. Robinson over the situation.

Deshaun spoke before starting a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars News 5 Cleveland and said,

“I really want to feel sorry for all the women I’ve influenced in this situation. I would definitely like to have my decisions that I made in my life that got me into this position back, but I want to keep moving forward and growing and learning and showing that I am a real person of character and I am becoming keep pushing it forward.”

As so far reported, the NFL appealed the original six-game suspension last week, saying it was less than the full-season suspension they originally argued for.

Watson was accused of engaging in inappropriate and non-consensual sexual behavior during sessions with massage therapists between March 2020 and March 2021 when he was still part of the Houston Texans. This later led to 24 civil charges from prosecutors.

Deshaun has maintained his innocence in the situation.

While acknowledging the work he needs to do on the field with his new team, he also acknowledges the work he needs to do off the field, adding:

“The most important thing is that I want to continue the counseling and make sure I’m growing as a person, as an individual to my decision-making on and off the field.”

After Disciplinary Commissioner Sue L. Robinson appealed, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell assigned New Jersey Attorney General Peter C. Harvey to hear the appeal.

Corresponding NFL.coman insider, Mike Garafolo, has reported that the NFL and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) have held talks about a possible settlement, but nothing has been settled.
