Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis, 22nd scorer in college basketball history, enters the transfer window

Detroit guard Antoine Davis, one of the top scorers in college basketball history, on Thursday said he is entering the transfer window.
“After much thought and consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Davis posted on Twitter. “I will always remember Detroit Mercy University and what it did for me. I wouldn’t be in this position if the University had given me the opportunity as a student-athlete. I’m honored. I got to be a Titan and compete in the Horizon League against great players and coaches, and I loved every second of being coached by my dad and brother.
“I also want to thank our fans. I love everything Detroit Mercy has to offer me from basketball to my education. I will always be a Titan.”
Davis, the son of current Detroit coach Mike Davis, has been one of the truly elite scorers during his 4 years with the Titans. He averaged 24.6 points over four seasons, ranking in the top five in all four seasons in terms of goalscoring ability. He placed 3rd last season at 23.9 per game, 3rd in 2020-21 at 24.0 per game, 4th in 2019-20 at 24.3 per game and number 3 in 2018-19 at a rate of 26.1 per game.
He won the Bronze Horizon Player of the Year award this past season and is the first player in league history to win the All-Horizon title for the first team four times.
Davis ranks 22nd all-time in career points heading into next season. If he continues at his four-year pace as a super senior, Davis will end up with more than 3,400 career points – 2nd all-time behind LSU legend Pete Maravich.
