“Dick Wolf’s NBC and CBS Shows Reopen Writers Rooms – The Hollywood Reporter”
Dick Wolf, the procedural king behind nine shows on two networks, gets back to work.
Writers’ Rooms for NBCs Chicago trio of Fire, Med And P.Das well as law and order and its spin-off, SVUand CBS’ FBI, Most Wanted And International have all reopened this week. Gwen Sigan returns as showrunner for Season 11 of Chicago PD; with Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider returning as showrunners for the ninth season of Chicago Med. At CBS, Eid also returns to lead the flagship show FBI, while David Hudgins is back to direct the spin-off Most Wanted. On the streaming site Prime Video On call resumes work on the first season with Tim Walsh as showrunner.
Wolf was among the few showrunners and producers whose overall deal was finalized not During the nearly 150-day writers’ strike, he was suspended for continuing to work as a producer on an unscripted series.
With the WGA strike now in the rearview mirror, broadcasters have reopened writers’ rooms with the goal of completing pre-production and writing before actors go back to work so that filming can resume and produce quality scripts. Originals returning to prime time as usual can try to salvage the 2023-24 season. Premiere dates have not yet been announced as they are still uncertain due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
