After leaks in the Nord Stream pipelines off the coast of Denmark were reported this week, Europe and the US have scrambled to address the problem while trying to find the culprits. So far most of the blame has been laid on Russia.
But amidst the people pointing fingers at Russia, emerged on Tuesday night’s episode of “Tucker Carlson tonight:“Perhaps President Joe Biden had something to do with the damaged pipelines.
“[I]If you were Vladimir Putin, you would have to be a suicidal idiot to blow up your own power line. That’s the one thing you would never do,” Carlson said during the show.
The Nord Stream pipelines transport gas from Russia to Europe through the Baltic Sea. Although none of the pipelines were actively pumping gas, as Russia had stopped supplying it to Europe, the underwater tubes were still filled with gas, NPR reported.
On Monday night, officials from Germany and Denmark saw both pipelines suddenly lose significant pressure, indicating large holes somewhere in the pipelines, NPR reported.

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen then announced that officials suspected these leaks may have been caused intentionally, the result of premeditated sabotage.
“Denmark’s PM says it’s ‘hard to imagine’ that the leaks discovered on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines were ‘accidental,'” DW News tweeted.

That suspicion appeared to be confirmed when Björn Lund, the director of the Swedish National Seismic Network, told NPR that both the Swedish and Danish Seismic Networks had picked up possible explosions Monday night.
Do you think Biden was behind the pipeline explosion?
Yes: 100% (3 votes)
No: 0% (0 votes)
“Preliminary estimates suggest that this is equivalent to at least 100 kilograms of dynamite,” Lund said.
These explosions appeared to be in the same areas as the leaks in the piping were found and there was no natural event to explain what happened, Lund told NPR.
With this suggestion that these leaks were the result of deliberate sabotage, many immediately began blaming Russia, since Gazprom, Russia’s state-owned energy company, has a majority stake in the pipelines, according to NPR.
Russia would also have reason to be dissatisfied with Europe, since it has resisted the war in Ukraine and sanctioned Russia as European Council sketched.
But Carlson offered a different explanation, pointing out that Russian President Vladimir Putin probably didn’t want to damage the very pipelines that gave him influence in Europe and made a lot of money.
“Natural gas pipelines are the main source of your power and wealth, and most importantly your influence over other countries. Europe needs your energy now more than ever as winter approaches. If you can’t provide that energy, countries like Germany don’t have to care about what you want,” Carlson wrote. “You’re in the middle of a war, a war of all men on deck, so you need all the leverage you can get. Under these circumstances, there is no chance of blowing up Nord Stream 1 or 2.”
However, as Carlson pointed out, in the past President Biden has proposed taking out the pipelines to shut down Russia.
In February, Biden specifically said he would shut down Nord Stream 2 if Russia attacked Ukraine.
“If Russia… invades again, then Nord Stream 2 will be around longer. We will put an end to this,” Biden said in a press conference he held with Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Reuters reported.
“I promise you we will get through this,” Biden added.
Carlson pointed out that these comments are made biden appears to have implicated him in the recent pipeline sabotage.
“Notice how he put it, and he’s the president. He doesn’t phrase things randomly, especially when reading cards. He didn’t say I would pause gas supplies from Russia to Germany. He said Nord Stream 2 will not exist. We’ll put an end to it. We take it out. We’re going to blow it up,” Carlson paraphrased after showing the clip of the exchange.
Carlson pointed out that it was ironic that Biden wanted to blow up the pipelines as it created a serious environmental problem, exactly what Biden said he was protecting. The leak is sending millions of cubic feet of natural gas into the water and causing untold damage to marine life, Carlson reported. He described the event as “one of the great environmental catastrophes of our time”.
“This is the President who has declared climate change the most pressing emergency in world history. This is the man lecturing you about using a wood stove or driving an SUV for its emissions. This is the guy who spent billions to relieve cow bloat from methane. Would this guy really blow up a methane pipeline in the middle of the Baltic Sea? It was hard to imagine,” Carlson wrote.
But Carlson isn’t the only person suspicious of Biden and his administration.
“Thank you, USA,” Sikorski tweeted.

While there is no positive evidence, or even a really good reason, that Biden was involved in these pipeline shenanigans, Carlson indicated that it would at least be consistent with the principle of other measures.
“When they have done that, it will be one of the craziest and most destructive things any American government has ever done. But it would also be totally consistent with what they do. What do you do? They destroy. These people don’t build anything, not a thing. Instead, they’re tearing down and desecrating everything from historical statues to the Constitution to energy infrastructure, and nobody in Congress is trying to stop any of it,” Carlson wrote.
However, it would also have massive consequences if the US were actually behind the pipeline sabotage.
“Blow up the Nord Stream pipelines? Okay, we’ve entered a new phase where the United States is at war directly with the world’s largest nuclear power. That doesn’t mean we’re going nuclear right away, but it does suggest there could be consequences. If we are indeed blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines, why shouldn’t Russia cut the undersea internet cables?” Carlson questioned.
As Carlson noted, while Biden and his administration may have thought this was a good way to punish Russia, the fallout could send the US and the developed world reeling.
“We can have an actual collapse. We could get into third world conditions very quickly. Those are the stakes,” Carlson wrote.
