Did Javi die in Ozark season 4? The fate of the cartel killer is discovered

Netflix’s crime drama, Ozark, is back for the first half of its final season, continuing the story of money-laundering duo Marty and Wendy Byrde.

The first seven episodes of season 4 were released by Netflix on January 21, 2022, and saw the Byrdes get more involved in the Navarro Cartel.

As such, the new season has a prominent role, Javi Elizonndro, a senior member of the gang, who certainly has a hand in it.

However, thanks to his bloody involvement in season 4, Ozark fans have kept asking about Javi’s fate and whether the controversial character can die.

Who is Javi?

Javi Elizonndro was introduced at the beginning of season 4 as Omar Navarro’s grandson.

Omar Navarro is the head of the Navarro Cartel, the illegal drug operation that Marty and Wendy started laundering money in in season 1.

Under Omar, Javi was considered the most powerful member of the family business and would take over in the event of Omar’s death, resignation or arrest.

However, he is significantly less calculated and less mature than his uncle and distrustful of the Byrdes, as he actively tries to make their job more difficult.

Did Javi die in the Ozark?

Javi is still alive at the end of season 4 season 1, so he hasn’t been killed yet.

However, audiences discovered his plan to kill Byrdes, suggesting that there will be some kind of confrontation in season 2, which will eventually lead to the death of Javi or the main characters, Marty and Wendy.

Since this is the final season, anything can be expected.

In episode 7, Javi is also responsible for the double murder of Wyatt, Ruth’s cousin, and his new wife, Darlene.

At the end of season 1, Ruth is unable to control her grief for Wyatt, and in rage over the circumstances of his death.

Before she discovers the culprit is Javi, she demands revenge, initially suspecting that Byrdes is behind the murder.

Sadly, viewers will have to wait for season 2 for Javi’s final fate to be fulfilled, however, it’s clear that there are some who want (and need) him dead.

The season opens with Marty and Wendy cleaning pieces of Helen Pierce – the former lawyer for the Navorro gang who was shot at the end of season 3 – from their hair and clothes.

The series marks a turning point when becoming a gang leader, Omar Novarro expresses his desire to lead a clean life and keep his family safe.

He encouraged the Byrdes to make a deal with the FBI that would allow him to leave his organization without being arrested or assassinated, and allowed to move freely between the US and Mexico.

However, it is his nephew Javi that is the biggest threat to the deal.

Jonah’s indignation over his uncle Ben’s murder in season 3 prompts the teenager to join Ruth’s new business, washing away the profits from Darlene’s heroin business against the wishes of the Novarro gang.
