Disney Legacy Animated Movie Collection Reveals Shocking Price
In recent years, studios have been moving away from physical media as streaming has become more prevalent. However, as streaming platforms have started removing their content, the demand for physical media is greater than ever. Disney has removed some content, and while this hasn’t happened with major animated films yet, it’s reminiscent of the days of the Disney Vault, when the studio would arbitrarily remove films from home release just to create scarcity. With that in mind, wouldn’t it be nice to own almost every animated film Disney has ever released on physical media? The House of Mouse seems to think so, as pre-orders have just opened for the Disney Legacy Animation Collection, a Blu-Ray box set that showcases almost the entire history of Disney film animation.
The box set, which releases November 14th and is available exclusively at Walmart, contains 100 Disney and Pixar films, each with its own disc, as well as 18 additional discs with special features for the Pixar films, which obviously take up more space. You get almost every movie, starting with Disney’s first animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfsto the latest Pixar film, Elementary. You can watch a trailer for it below.
While not in 4K, the collection consists of three large book volumes, each containing images to identify the films and a quote from the film, creating a sort of Disney animated film timeline. There’s also a crystal Mickey Mouse hat and a lithographed poster for Disney’s next animated film. Wish. You also get digital codes for all 100 movies, so you can use them on the go… after several hours of entering digital codes.
How much will all this set you back? A whopping $1,499.96. That’s actually a pretty solid price for 100 movies, even if they’re not 4K remasters of the movies, and considering physical media is the only way to really ensure you’ll be able to watch these movies whenever you do is a Disney fan This actually makes for a pretty good deal. You know, if you have $1.5K lying around.
