Disney, still reeling from “Strange World,” desperately needs “Wish” to become a box office hit

A year ago, Walt Disney Animation suffered one of the biggest bombs in its 100-year history with “Strange World,” which resulted in its worst Thanksgiving weekend at the box office since 1999. Now the studio is back with its 100th anniversary film. Wish” and both Disney and theaters are in desperate need of a holiday hit, as projections show the film will gross around $50 million in over 3,700 theaters over the five-day holiday weekend.
