DJ Tommy Pnuts wows the judges at the World IDA DMC DJ Championships
Tom Pasquil, known as DJ Tommy Pnuts, of St. Helens’ Powered by Hip Hop (UC Crew) triumphed at the World IDA DMC DJ Championships.
The 2022 Championships took place in Warsaw, Poland last month.

Tom convinced the jury to give him first place in the 2022 IDA World Technical Category.

In the technical category, contestants had to perform a three-minute scratch DJing set, during which they had to perform sets involving beat juggling and scratching, which met the jury’s criteria for a high level of musicality, originality, technical ability, pattern and style for each round fulfilled The competition.

31-year-old Tom needed to complete four rounds to win the World Championship while also appearing as a runner-up with DJ Static in a two-person DJing showcase.
Many St Helens children and young people have had the opportunity to learn DJing from Tom over the years and he is known for giving DJ workshops at Momo’s Cafe, Hope Academy, De La Salle, Moss Bank Library and Parr Library .
Tom Glynn of Powered by Hip Hop (UC Crew) said: “This is a fantastic performance for DJ Tommy Pnuts and underscores the talent of our city, it comes at a perfect time as St Helens is the cultural borough.
“You’ll be seeing a lot more of him at venues across the county throughout 2023.”
