Jodie Whittaker’s final farewell as Doctor Who’s legendary Time Lord has been teased across the show’s social media with a brand new trailer.

It was also announced that the long-awaited episode, titled Power Of The Doctor, will be released on October 23 – meaning fans will only have to wait a few weeks to see the dramatic finale.

The actress will be leaving the BBC sci-fi drama after five years as the 13th and first doctor in next month’s anniversary special.

The new Doctor Who trailer shows Jodie being welcomed ‘to the end of her existence’ as she faces her dramatic final battle.

The eponymous character has to contend with both Daleks and Cybermen in the episode, as the short trailer showed her frantically dodging laser beams.

Sacha Dhawan, who plays the Master, can be seen in the trailer telling the Doctor, “This is the day you will be wiped out forever”.

While a Dalek incursion on Earth is also teased, the cast finds itself in an intense battle against the clock.

Mandip Gill, John Bishop, Sophie Aldred and Janet Fielding will also return to the screen alongside the star in the feature-length special.

During the finale, the star will reportedly pay tribute to past Time Lords by wearing their iconic outfits throughout the feature-length episode.

And in reaction to the new trailer, fans were sent into a frenzy on Twitter, with one writing: “IM NOT READY TO SAY GOODBYE TO JODIE / I DONT WANT HER TO GO.”

Jodie’s role will be filled by Ncuti Gatwa, the sex education actor, as screenwriter Russell T. Davies also returns to the show.

Ncuti will be the first black doctor in the series’ history, marking yet another milestone for the long-running BBC series.

Jodie previously teased the episode, telling Empire Magazine: “She has all the iconic things that you associate with Doctor Who. It’s huge.”

And speaking about her impending screen departure, she admitted: “I can’t talk about it without crying. When I could see that the crew was happy with the last shot, my lower lip started to hurt.

“I was like, ‘Well, they can’t say they need another shot now because I lost it!'” she joked.
