I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought of Doug Lewis, his wife and children over the past few days. It was such a senseless crime and it just breaks me to know that such a good family man was taken in such a way that I still can’t contain myself. I actually knew him personally for over two decades in a variety of capacities…as a lawyer, as a father I saw often at the school I taught at, as a coach to one of our little league kids…In every role I’ve known he nice. How someone could harbor so much hatred to commit such a devastating act is beyond my ability to comprehend. I know this family could certainly use prayers ❤️

He was killed by his client’s husband just days before a scheduled divorce hearing. The killer then set fire to his law office. Doug was an outstanding attorney who practiced for many years. This news shook the legal community. Doug didn’t deserve to die. In this industry we deal with a wide range of personalities and emotions. None of us expected that. This tragedy is an eye opener. We must take precautions in this practice and surely Doug’s death will compel many of us to take serious safety measures to protect against some of these unstable nuts. It’s crazy, nobody’s safe.

A testimonial from a former client on his website reads:

Doug Lewis has represented me in both a divorce and custody change and has just done an amazing job… I’ve spoken to many people over the years and heard horror stories about what they end up with when all is said and done, and after i tell them about my settlement they seem amazed and want doug’s name and number.
