Draft NFL outlook in the Frisco Bowl tropical smoothie cafe in 2021

San Diego State’s Draft Aztec Prospects

Cameron Thomas, edge

Thomas played for the Aztecs for three seasons, but really made a breakthrough in production this year. He has a total of 152 tackles, 39 missed tackles and 10.5 tackles in his career. This season has been his best, as he has posted a total of 68 tackles, 20.5 saves and 10.5 tackles.

His size will help him look like part of an NFL edge pusher at 6 foot-5 and 270 pounds. Thomas has proven resistant to running and passing well this season, which has helped his stock. He was one of the most at-risk in the draft class and is now expected to be picked somewhere not far after the first round.

Matt Araiza, P

A bully being mentioned? How good Araiza was to the Aztecs. The man dubbed the “God of Punt” has averaged 51.3 yards per stroke during his career. This season, he won Ray Guy awards and averaged 51.4 yards per pitch. He also started for the Aztecs with 73.1% of his on-field goals and 91 of 92 extra points in his three seasons.

Araiza showed some athletic talent in her 6-foot-2 and 200-pound frames. He is a threat to cover his own games and kicks. The pros aren’t usually drafted, but with Araiza being able to flip the pitch with such ease (he’s had more than 80 yards of throws), an NFL team may be getting him sooner than fans expect. wait.

Expected Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick

UTSA Roadrunners Draft Prospects

Tariq len, CB

Woolen began his UTSA career in a wide receiver position, but made the change after three seasons. In his 5 years of qualifying, he has a total of 63 tackles, 2 interceptions and 9 tackles. In the 2021 season, he has a total of 25 tackles, 1 interception and 5 tackles.

A lot of his draft stock is built on his 6-foot-4, 205-pound frame. The federation is wanting bigger and longer corners and Woolen fits that framework. His attacking experience will likely help him. He is currently predicted as a final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Expected Range: Fifth Round Pick-Saturday Pick

Spencer Buford, OT

Buford is the first 4-star employer to contract with UTSA in the program’s history. He entered the starting lineup like a true freshman and started 10 games. In his sophomore season, he remained a starter and an All-C-USA Honorary Mention. The next season, in 2020, he was the All-C-USA Second Team. He continued his progress as a senior, as he became the All-C-USA first-place team of choice this season.

At 6 feet-5 and 295 pounds, Buford isn’t the greatest offensive forward, but he can still be successful in the NFL. His ability to block helped a very good barrage of attacks during his time at UTSA. With further development, he could become a solid NFL ranker. He is currently predicted to be a late pick.

Expected Range: Free agent picks in sixth round
