The finale of Dancing With the Stars will air live on Monday, November 21, 2022 and the final four will battle it out for who will take home the coveted Season 31 Mirrorball Trophy.
TV host Wayne Brady and his partner Witney Carson, TikTok star Charli D’Amelio and her partner Mark Ballas, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ alumnus Shangela and her partner Gleb Savchenko, and ‘Bachelorette’ star Gabby Windey and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy will strike Ballroom for a variety of dances where a couple is crowned the winner of the season.
It’s been a very competitive season, with several of the front runners topping the leaderboard week after week, and the finale will be one of the closest in the show’s history. Of course, the toll the rehearsals have taken on all the dancers has been challenging, perhaps more so for some than others, and a fan favorite shares what she experienced at the end of the season.
Here’s what you need to know:
Windey said it was hard to get out of bed
In a recent interview, Windey was asked how her body has been handling the competition. While the reality TV star didn’t have any serious injuries, she did admit that her body definitely hurts.
On 11/18/2022, Episode of the Chicks in the Office podcast.Windey was asked how tough the season was on her body.
“I feel great,” Windey said, laughing. “I’ll never admit it,” she joked. “No, I mean, I have to roll out of bed in the morning, push myself up and hope my feet will catch me,” she added. Still, Windey said the overall experience was “amazing.”
“I found muscles I never knew I had,” she continued. “It’s a great workout. It’s definitely physically grueling.”
However, Windey maintained a great attitude throughout the competition and her pro partner praised her hard work – and great personality.
“She works hard and doesn’t take things personally,” Chmerkovskiy said.
Windey felt that at the beginning of the season, especially in his feet.
“My dogs are already barking,” she said captioned her first Instagram feed post next to Chmerkovskiy.
The season was also very emotional for Windey
Not only has Windey thrown everything into the competition, but he’s also been through a lot off the dance floor. A few weeks into the competition, they split from fiancé Erich Schwer – who she got engaged to on the finale of The Bachelorette earlier that year.
Windey confirmed the split in the DWTS semifinals. in the an interview with People magazine After the big reveal, Windey explained that the show was actually a form of “therapy” for her.
“Val talks a lot about dance being — he says it’s a form of therapy just because you can really move your emotions through your body,” she told the outlet. “I think, firstly, dance is a creative expression, and secondly… And what’s the word? Athletic. It’s a sport. It takes a lot of muscle power, and that’s the part I hate. But I think there’s a lot of therapeutic determination in it,” she continued.
“I’m grateful for a friendship with Val and an opportunity to truly express myself through dance. And not as a distraction for that, but to help me process it,” she added.
