Dancing With the Stars pro Cheryl Burke has some advice for followers who are annoyed that she’s giving out a lot of information about her personal life.

“Don’t follow me anymore,” she told the outlet. “Don’t waste your time commenting because I know I’m helping at least one person. If it is, so be it.”
She added: “At the end of the day, I think these people should take a little note and just understand that this is someone’s story. I’m not making this up.”
Burke also told the outlet that there are things she personally keeps to herself.
“But that’s my duty for me,” she added. “This is my duty from the platform that I have to share my story to hopefully help another person to know they are not alone.”

Burke has been open about her journey with sobriety
Burke opened in one October 2022 Instagram Post about her journey to sobriety and her relationship with alcohol.
“I’ve been sober for four years and to say my life has been a rollercoaster ride during that time would be a gross understatement,” she wrote in the post. “My journey with sobriety began the night of my engagement party in 2018.”
She shared that this period in her life was a “major turning point” for her, although she originally quit drinking “for vanity reasons.”
“Every time I drank I would blush and get hives, which scared me because I’d never had a reaction like this before,” Burke said in the Post. “It was like my body was repelling the poison I so badly wanted to use to numb me.”
Burke acknowledged that her sobriety is a “lifelong journey” that she will continue to take “one day and sometimes even one step and one hour at a time.”
Burke shared details about previous abusive relationships and their divorce
In an episode of “Conversation at the Red TableAiring on Facebook Watch on Nov. 2, 2022, Burke described an abusive relationship she was in in high school.
“Not to be too graphic, but in high school – I’ll never forget that – the person I was dating used to whip me with a belt,” Burke shared in the interview.
Burke and now-ex-husband Matthew Lawrence met in 2007 and dated for a year before splitting. The two then got back together and reconciled in 2017. The two got engaged in 2018 before marrying in May 2019.
According to documents, Burke filed for divorce in February 2022 after nearly three years of marriage obtained from Us Weekly back then.
The two are due to go on trial in January 2023 over custody of their dog, a Frenchie bulldog named Ysabella, and Burke has been open about her love for their dog.

“I’ve been very emotional lately, very sad, a little bit anxious, but more like trying to process my feelings,” Burke shared.
