Here’s what Witney loves about the singing competition series:

Witney Carson wants to be friends with judge Katy Perry

In an Instagram Story, Witney admitted to her followers that she really fell in love with ‘American Idol’ this season, saying she didn’t realize what she’s been missing out on all these seasons by not watching.

“I’m obsessed with ‘American Idol’ this season,” Witney said, adding, “I’m watching ‘American Idol’ right now while I’m babysitting and trying to work at the same time. I had no idea what was wrong with me.”

She continued that she wants to be BFFs with judge Katy Perry, writing, “I love Katy Perry SO MUCH. I’m so happy I started watching this because I’m OBSESSED. I want so badly to be her friend.”

The official American Idol Instagram account saw Witney’s story and reposted it, writing “YASSSSSS” and then moving on to Katy Perry’s Instagram account, the pop star posted a teaser video of the show with the caption, “This is just a taste of what you’re missing,” and Witney commented, “Ugh you’re the best, seriously! Love love love watching you!!!!!”

Witney isn’t the only Dancing With the Stars pro enjoying American Idol. Dancing With the Stars alum Nikki Bella revealed in an interview with Us weekly that she and DWTS Pro Artem Chigvintsev would like American Idol Season 10 third place winner Haley Reinhart to sing “Can’t Help Falling in Love” for her first dance at their wedding reception.

American Idol Season 20 is heating up

American Idol Season 20 has been going a little crazy lately. On the two nights of Top 24 performances in Hawaii, frontrunner and Platinum ticket recipient Kenedi Anderson left the competition for “personal reasons.”

she wrote on Instagram:

I can’t continue on American Idol for personal reasons. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I know it’s necessary. I’m so thankful for American Idol, the judges, the producers, the amazing contestants and all the fans who supported me. Thank you for giving me such an amazing opportunity to share my voice, pursue my dreams, find so much joy and happiness in what I love, and make lifelong friends in the process.

Following her departure from the show, the show released a statement People which read, “We’re disappointed that Kenedi is leaving, but we look forward to seeing this celebratory 20th season unfold with the incredible talent vying to be the next ‘American Idol.'”

Now, on Sunday April 17th and Monday April 18th, the first live episodes are coming – the top 20 reveal episodes and the top 14 reveal episodes. Corresponding Peopleformer contestants Chayce Beckkham (season 19 winner), Phillip Phillips (season 11 winner), and Alejandro Aranda (season 17 runner-up) will return to the show for special performances.

“American Idol” airs Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific Time on ABC.
