DWTS viewers ‘disappointed’ with Pro After Halloween episode

DWTS Halloween Night

Dancing With the Stars judges are Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli.

Some ‘Dancing With the Stars’ fans are disappointed in a professional dancer after the Halloween night show.

During the show, Witney Carson and her celebrity partner Wayne Brady performed a contemporary routine. Many fans were thrilled because Carson is considered one of the best choreographers on the show.

However, once the routine was over, some fans questioned whether it was even a contemporary routine. Others were disappointed with the music and choreography.

“Wayne’s dance tonight was, in my opinion, Witney’s greatest Halloween miss…” one person tweeted. “It just wasn’t even what it should have been. Not a contemporary at all… that may be due to the song, but still… I didn’t like it at all. Might even be my least favorite of them so far.”

During the show, judge Derek praised Hough Carson for working with the music she was given, which was an electronic version of the “Halloween theme” of “Halloween.”

Some fans were disappointed with Carson’s choreography

Some fans took to social media to share that they were disappointed with Carson’s Halloween choreography.

“The whole concept of the dance and the song felt honest to me,” one person wrote on Reddit. “I was so looking forward to another Halloween contemporary of hers.”

Another person commented, “I was kind of disappointed to hear that in the package she equated a contemporary with a freestyle. I know she knows better! I think she was probably a bit limited [simple] Lifts, so that probably played a role in her choreo, but I feel like she could have done more contemporary, even taking into account Wayne’s knee.”

Later in the show, Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater performed a contemporary dance to Justin Bieber’s “Ghost,” and fans became obsessed with the performance, which made Donovan emotional and propelled the pair to the top of the leaderboard for the first time.

Carson had a lot going for it, as last year’s Halloween episode featured Emmy-nominated contemporary choreography by Daniella Karagach for her partner Iman Shumpert.

Some others Fans on Reddit questioned Carson’s overall season so far, but not just her Halloween contemporaries, although many defended her.

“She seems fine to me most of the time. If she’s tired, that’s understandable, she has a toddler.” one person wrote.

They added, “I don’t think she and Wayne are having issues either, but I think there might be more of a workmate relationship between them than besties.”

Others mentioned the travel mix-up the couple had earlier in the season as a possible point of contention.

Carson & Brady fell off the top of the leaderboard

For the past two weeks, Carson and Brady have been lower in the rankings than they’re used to. In the first few weeks of the competition, they took top spots on the board alongside Charli D’Amelio and Gabby Windey. Now they’ve had lower scores for two weeks in a row.

However, Carson thought the dance went well.

“I love Halloween!!” she kept writing Instagram after the episode. “So much fun playing cyborgs and honestly @mrbradybaby absolutely smashed it!! What do you think?”

There are just a few weeks left in the competition as the show closes for the season on November 21st.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Disney+.
