During Week 8 of the 2021 season, Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver, Calvin Ridley, decided to give up football –– citing mental health.

After no updates from Ridley after the end of the season, it is expected that the Falcons will look to redeem the All-Pro wide.

And CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin Yes Philadelphia Eagles listed as Ridley’s #1 landing spot.

General Manager Howie Roseman is as eager to trade as anyone, especially when the target is a potential long-term weapon. Better yet, Philly is getting a chance to compete, and Ridley has played with both QB Jalen Hurts and fellow Alabama WR DeVonta Smith. Eagles are also loaded with draft capital.

Benjamin also named the Dolphins, Bears, Patriots, Browns, 49ers, Jaguars, Raiders and Colts as other potential commercial partners.

Appraisal Analyst Suggests Ridley Wants Out

The NFL’s Network Steve Wyche joined Dukes & Bells Podcasts where he made his best-trained prediction about the potential fate of the Falcons’ flagship wide-band receiver.

When asked if Ridley’s future with the team was in jeopardy, Wyche didn’t hesitate:

“Yes, I would think so,” he said. “I don’t know everything that’s going on here, but since he’s out of service and the team hasn’t said anything about him during the season.. believe me I believe that at some point it’s possible. his team might be like ‘he needs a fresh start’ or the Falcons might be like, ‘hey, we need a fresh start. It’s hard to think about everything this group is trying to do…with the new leadership and everything…

Maybe if it were a situation in Pittsburgh and Arthur Smith been a coach here for seven or eight years, then maybe they’ll say ‘okay, we can bring him back.’ But I think since they’re trying to start fresh and let things go, at some point there’s going to be some kind of breakup –– that’s my best guess.

I don’t know if that’s going to happen but yeah, this is the kind of scenario where I think it’s going to be a fresh start for him somewhere else. “

Falcon can use more draft capital

After the Week 8 loss to the Carolina Panthers, the Falcons placed him on the non-football injury list, which has sidelined him for at least three weeks. But, he never returned and finished the 2021 season with 31 catches for 281 yards and two touchdowns.

Falcons . Offense clearly struggling with the lack of a reliable receiver for Matt Ryan after they fell short after the season for the fifth year in a row. They will need to deal with the matter with or without Ridley’s return.

However, the WR position isn’t the only one the Falcons need to address, in fact, their list of needs is deep. Trading Ridley away in exchange for draft capital might be their best bet to get their team back on track to become playoff contenders.

So if the Eagles are up for a blockbuster deal with plenty of options to throw the Atlanta way, the Falcons should move from Ridley.
