Ed Sheeran donates £1million to help children learn music after it impacted his life

Ed Sheeran has donated nearly £1million to help young children learn music after it impacted his life.
The singer’s generosity was recently revealed in new accounts from Sheeran’s charity.
The 31-year-old father of two has donated £500,000 to the Framlington Foundation Trust, named after the Suffolk town where he grew up, to help young aspiring musicians, having donated the same amount over the past five years .

A source told The Mirror: “Ed has never forgotten his struggle for the top and the influence of music on his life. It is fantastic that he is helping in this way.”
Children can apply to the charity, which operates as the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation, for funding for instruments, rehearsal space and performances.
Ed, who is worth an estimated £180million, said: “The reason I’m doing it in Suffolk is [because] It’s the area I grew up in, I still live here and I learned how to make music here and I feel like I had a lot of support from the area and I want to give some support back.
The former busker said: “It’s like ‘earn a dime, spend a dime’ with me. As soon as it comes in, it goes out. I don’t attach much importance to it. […] I care more about my friends and family doing well.”

Last year Ed retained his crown as Britain’s richest star under thirty for the third straight year with a staggering £236.5m win.
In the last year, Ed – who not only has the most-streamed single of all time with Shape Of You, but also the highest-grossing tour of all time with Divide Tour – added £26.5m to his estimated value.
It comes after it was revealed the accounts of Ed’s property empire exceed £38million, according to the latest figures.
Ed, whose portfolio is worth an estimated £65million, was hit by the pandemic with his Notting Hill pub and restaurant, Bertie Blossoms, posting a loss of almost £1.2million.
In documents seen by MailOnline, Eds Maverick Properties Ltd is now worth £35,769,804 after adding properties worth £3.012 million.
Meanwhile, Maverick Commercial Properties has assets of £2,687,906 after Ed added properties worth £994,342 in 2020. The total of the two accounts is £38,457,710.
On the hospitality side of his empire, Ed’s company That Dive Bar Portobello Ltd is -£565,063, while Fat Punt Ltd is -£623,661.
The closure of Ed’s pub and restaurant during lockdown sent his accounts nearly £1.2million in the red.
