Eddie Izzard, 61, now uses the female name ‘Suzy’ – but says people can still use her original name

Comedian Eddie Izzard has revealed that she’s now using a new female name – ‘Suzy’.
The rising Labor MP, 61, said she is now switching between her original name and the new moniker.
The gender bias star revealed the change on Monday night’s Matt Forde political party podcast.
Izzard has been using “she/her” pronouns since 2020, but “doesn’t mind” when people use “him/her” pronouns.
She told Forde, “I prefer to see her, I don’t mind that he/she… I’m Eddie.

“There’s one other name I’m going to add, and that’s Suzy, who I’ve wanted to be since I was 10. I’ll be Suzy Eddie Izzard.
“That’s how I’m going to roll, so people can choose what they want. They can’t go wrong, they can’t go wrong.’
She also vowed to “keep on going” as a Labor MP “until I get in” after losing selection for the Sheffield Central seat in December and vowed to fight for selection “all over the North”.
“I’d rather be in the North because I’m a Southern kid…if people think the South is doing well then I want to fight for the North,” she added.
She also said it was not transphobic to oppose former Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s gender recognition bill, which was blocked by Westminster in January.
The lockdown came amid concerns that 16 was too young to lower the limit to which someone can legally change gender.
Izzard said it was not transphobic to oppose the Scottish bill as the amount of time people should wait before legally changing gender was a “sensitive issue”.
When asked how many genders there are, she said, “I don’t know … we’re all somewhere on the spectrum, we just have to relax about it.”
Izzard previously told the Huffington Post website, “I’ve spent 50 years mostly in boy mode, so let’s try the next 50 in girl mode.
“It’s just a language adaptation. And nobody should be upset about it.
“I’m still gender biased and I tell everyone who’s supported me, ‘Relax, he or she, it doesn’t matter.’
“The pronoun thing isn’t the important thing, the important thing came out [as trans] It was a tough time in 1985.”
Izzard was originally known as a comedian who dressed cross-dressed, but now identifies as a gendered trans woman.
