EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Trinny Woodall reveals her daughter’s grief over family tragedy

Trinny Woodall has spoken out about the impact the death of her ex-husband Johnny Elichaoff had on her daughter Lyla, who is now 19.

The businessman died in 2014 at the age of 55. “The impact of something really big when you’re younger makes you grow up a lot in some ways and stay a kid longer in some ways,” says beauty entrepreneur Trinny, 58.

On the How To Fail podcast, she adds, “I look at Lyla in amazement and I’m like, ‘You believe in yourself so much, even though it was the weirdest upbringing you’ve had and the most profound things that have happened to you.”

Will Anne’s son follow Tindall into the jungle?

Once head boy at Gordonstoun, the £46,650 Scottish boarding school his uncle the king reportedly dubbed ‘Colditz in kilts’, could Peter Phillips now follow his brother-in-law Mike Tindall in his bid to become king of the jungle?

I ask the once-unthinkable question because Phillips could use the money — as could City Racing, the company he founded a decade ago with the ambition of hosting horse races through the streets of cities around the world.

It has yet to hold a single race meeting, while the latest reports suggest it’s limping badly and possibly even heading for the skinner’s yard – barring an invigoratingly massive injection.

The figures show his deficit has risen to nearly £1.5m – up from £1.2m a year earlier – while wealth has shrunk from £319,000 to just £58,000.

“A series of additional testing and development events resulted in a loss for the year,” confirms the accompanying report. Unfortunately for Phillips, 45, he can no longer rely on a cash injection from SEL UK, the events company he founded, which organized the Queen’s £10,000-a-head luncheon at The Mall for the Queen’s 90th birthday.

SEL raised £750,000 but are struggling to repeat that success. Phillips, who has two daughters with his ex-wife Autumn, has stepped down as one of the directors.

Maybe City Racing will suddenly sprint forward? Phillips and his co-directors report that they have “the necessary financial support” to enable it “to remain in operation for the foreseeable future.”

Otherwise I am a Celebrity might be tempting. . .

Curry night is perfect for Sheeran

Pop stars Ed Sheeran and James Blunt wrapped up warm as they took their wives out for a curry, but let’s hope it didn’t get too spicy.

Sheeran, 31, and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, 30, went to Gymkhana restaurant in Mayfair with Blunt, 48, and Sofia Wellesley, 39, granddaughter of the 8th Duke of Wellington.

At a previous meeting at Prince Andrew’s Windsor home, Sheeran suffered a nasty cut to her cheek after her friend Princess Beatrice pretended to “knight” Blunt, a former Household Cavalry officer, with a ceremonial sword.

Xmas Fiona was deeply upset

A contemporary tip on what not to give for Christmas comes from the Countess of Carnarvon, whose unwelcome gift from her husband the Earl once caused a rather chilly silence.

Fiona Carnarvon, her husband Geordie’s family home at Highclere Castle, where Downton Abbey is filmed, says: “Men spend ridiculous amounts of money on Christmas Eve and panic buy presents because Christmas has surprised them yet again. Georgy stumbled in on Christmas morning carrying what felt deliciously heavy to unwrap. Excited and confused I found – a pestle and a mortar.’

She adds: “I was speechless as my husband explained into the silence that on Christmas Eve the only department at Harrods that wasn’t overly enthusiastic was the kitchen department. Since then he has avoided the kitchen department for everyone’s benefit.”

Think also of the MEPs who have been hit by the cost of living crisis.

Commons brand champagne is up £1.45 a bottle. Our politicians are fed and watered in a variety of taxpayer-subsidized bars and restaurants. And they now have to pay £38.70 for Fizz at Strangers’ Bar, which was £37.45 in September last year. At the time, a pint of Carlsberg was £3.56, while by April it had risen to £3.70.

Some London pubs are now charging £7 a pint.

“Our services are not directly subsidized and all food and drink is sold above cost,” says a Commons spokesman.

Nancy Dell’Olio, former admirer of ex-England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, made her way to Chief of the Army Sir Patrick Sanders at the Vina Carmen Cigar Smoker of the Year Awards.

“He’s very nice,” the former Strictly star told me at the event hosted by the king’s stepson, Tom Parker Bowles, at the Boisdale restaurant in Canary Wharf, east London.

“We talked a lot about world affairs and wars, and I told him that I didn’t agree with the war in Ukraine.” Unfortunately for Nancy, 61, Sir Patrick, 56, is already taken: he is happy with the author Fiona Bullen married.

The 61-year-old comedian lives in north London with his girlfriend Jane Fallon, whom he met at London University.

He has previously said of his wealth, “I know it sounds like a lot, but remember, I donate a lot of it to good causes (mainly the IRS).”

Billie Piper sounds like she would liven up any Christmas party.

“I’m such a horny dancer but not when my kids are around because I’m an anxious person around them now,” says the 40-year-old The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl star, who has two sons with his Ex-husband Laurence Fox has , and a daughter with boyfriend Johnny Lloyd. “But when I’m out with my friends, it’s just full horn; I’m a huge slut dropper at parties.”

What I should explain for the uninitiated is a dance move.

Swinging Sixties fashion icon Twiggy helped make The Beatles’ Get Back a hit single, Sir Paul McCartney has revealed.

It wasn’t until he played it to her that he realized by the model’s musical ear that it was better than “OK.” In an online Q&A, Macca says, “I remember playing it for Twiggy and she went mad and said, ‘This is great, it has to be the single.’ So that helped. It’s nice to see things through the eyes of others.”
