Arsenal missed out on a big January deal for Dusan Vlahovic, but not everyone is impressed with his start at Juventus.
Understandably, the Gunners are desperate to get a new striker in the January transfer window.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has left the club and both Alexander Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract this summer.
Vlahovic seems to be the top target. Edu thought that a partial barter deal involving Fiorentina’s current mistress Lucas Torreira would tempt La Viola into entering a deal.
To replace, Vlahovic earns controversial £63m switch to rival Juventus, sparking anger from Fiorentina fans.
Four goals in his first eight games for Juventus isn’t bad for Vlahovic, especially as it took him just seconds to score against Villarreal in the Champions League.
However, the Serbian feel has not impressed everyone since moving to Turin.
Former Italy international Antonio Cassano is outspoken at the best of times and he has not held back when it comes to Vlahovic.
As quoted by CalciomercatoCassano thinks Vlahovic looked very hungry when he first arrived at Juventus.
Now, however, Cassano insists Vlahovic ‘didn’t do anything’ and couldn’t even shoot on target.
“He came in with an impressive hunger, but now he’s doing nothing, he’s not even getting a shot on target,” Casseano said.
Certainly, in Juventus’ 1-0 win over Spezia on Sunday, Vlahovic did not have a shot on target in his 85 minutes on the field.
It’s only been one game, but Cassano’s stinging criticism is something to watch out for moving forward.
Mikel Arteta certainly wouldn’t support his main striker doing nothing; even when Alexandre Lacazette doesn’t score, he still gives a lot to the team.
Arsenal hope to find their star striker this summer having missed out on Vlahovic, but can feel that the 22-year-old is perhaps not the right fit for them.
Arteta’s demands are great, expect full commitment from all; that’s why Aubameyang was allowed to leave.
Vlahovic has only gone two games without scoring, but it’s clear that Cassano is looking forward to seeing him move forward a lot.
