Elizabeth Hurley posts a bikini photo while holding starfish
The pictures show Elizabeth’s fit body, but what she’s holding in her hands has caused a lot of discussion among her fans.
In both pictures, the mother of one can be seen holding a pair of giant orange starfish.
The caption reads: “Found these magnificent starfish alive but stranded on the beach – they are now happily back on the seabed ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Many didn’t seem to mind the pictures, but some on social media took offense.
Fans are divided over the actress’ recent picture
Some fans on Instagram have attacked Liz for feeling that the starfish in her hands cannot survive without water.
“They are beautiful, too bad they died after you took this picture. People need to know that starfish die when you pull them out of the water!” wrote one fan.
another said: “Never take them out of the water. They will likely die as soon as they are touched and taken out of the water. Starfish are super delicate.”
“They are extremely delicate and most likely will not survive if you take them out of the sea and manipulate them… Google it.” wrote a fan.
Other fans jumped to Liz’s defense by claiming that starfish like the ones she was holding would survive even if they weren’t in the water.
One fan responded to the critics by saying, “Starfish don’t die just by pulling them out of the water.”
Another fan commented: “This species of starfish constantly washes up on beaches and survives. Relax.”
“Oreaster reticulatus can routinely be washed ashore without much damage. They’re pretty tough.” said another fan.
Do starfish die when they’re not in the water?
The way the English actress held – Oreaster reticulatus – Known to migrate to offshore locations with little water movement to avoid turbulence. Therefore, it is unlikely that they did not survive after recording.
As the star himself said, “They are now happily back on the seabed.”
But, Most other starfish species cannot breathe out of the water and suffocate within minutes. Others may die from human contact as they cannot handle the stress of coming into contact with perfume or sunscreen due to the chemicals they contain.
