Star Emily Simpson gives fans a little more background on what really happened during Heather Dubrow’s disastrous dinner party this season of The Real Housewives of Orange County.

At the start of the season, Dubrow hosted a large dinner party for the cast and their other friends, hosted by Nobu. However, a heated argument broke out that night after it was revealed that Shannon Beador had told some of her co-stars about an old lawsuit against Dubrow’s husband, Terry Dubrow. The lawsuit was filed against Dubrow nearly 20 years ago by new cast member Nicole James and was eventually dropped.

However, Dubrow found out about this during the party and was not happy about it and threatened to stop production. Later in the season, Noella Bergener even claimed that Dubrow punched a cameraman during the party, which Dubrow denies. But, according to Simpson, there was a lot more going on behind the scenes.

“I feel like with everything that happened at Heather’s dinner party that was like Episode 2 or something, I feel like there was a lot of backlash when it came to Gina [Kirschenheiter] or me or things that happened that people don’t know about,” Simpson said page six in an article dated 12.

Simpson continued, “I feel like the reunion is an opportunity to give viewers more insight into things that happened that weren’t shown. So I hope that maybe more will be clarified this evening.”

Simpson also slammed Beador during the interview

When speaking to page sixSimpson also lashed out at Beador, saying she looked like the “victim” after the lawsuit debacle.

“Here’s the thing: I feel like Shannon came out of that situation looking like a victim,” Simpson said. “I feel like she made it seem like she made that pact with Gina and I and we promised not to say anything and then we immediately turned around and told Heather and that’s not at all happens.”

Simpson added, “There were other factors and other things that took place. And so I hope that this will be clarified when we meet again. … I hope there’s a little more detail as to why things happened the way they happened.”

Simpson also called Beador “neuotic” and “difficult”.

“I find her difficult and neurotic, and that upsets me,” Simpson said. “It’s like a range of emotions with her.”

Dubrow almost quit the show because of the dinner party drama

During a December 2021 interview with entertainment tonight, Dubrow admitted she almost quit the show because of the dinner party drama. Dubrow was a cast member on “The Real Housewives of Orange County” from seasons 7 to 11 and then returned for season 16.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Dubrow said of the moment she found out the lawsuit was uncovered during the party. “I felt betrayed. I felt blind. And I found it so surreal. I mean really, so surreal. It’s not that I didn’t think something would happen during the season, but that – especially at the height of the season, especially the first party at my house when it comes to getting to know you? I was thinking maybe something petty – maybe. Never in a million years could I have imagined this, which is why truth is stranger than fiction. I was literally so blind. I was like, ‘Oh my god, I made a mistake. That was a mistake.'”

Viewers can catch the first part of the Real Housewives of Orange County Season 16 reunion on Wednesday, April 20 at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Bravo.
