England and Arsenal legend has Ramsdale and Pickford claim fans don’t like it

David Seaman has stated that Everton’s Jordan Pickford will still be his number one goalkeeper for England ahead of Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.

The Highbury legend added that Ramsdale is “really pushing forward” England’s number one but he still puts the Everton man ahead of him.

Ramsdale is currently injured and not part of the current national setup preparing for two friendlies against Ivory Coast and Switzerland.

If he had been fit it would have been interesting to see what Gareth Southgate would have done on the home stage given Ramsdale’s form.

Seaman made it clear that if Ramsdale were fit he would have used him in England’s upcoming games because they are friendlies.

But Arsenal fans might not like the fact that he would still pick Pickford for the Three Lions ahead of Ramsdale in general. as he told Sky Sports.

“Maybe because he played two friendlies,” Seaman said. “I still think Jordan is number one because he has never let England down.

“He has a lot to do with Everton because of the situation they are in. But with England he never let her down.

“It’s still Pickford for me. But Aaron is really pushing. He plays really well. He also has that confidence and it’s a little bit arrogant too. But it’s a beautiful arrogance and confidence.

“It’s not too much. He manages it just right. It bothers him. It’s the perfect level to keep your confidence up.”

In international football, Pickford has never made a mistake.

That was evident at the last World Cup, the UEFA Nations League, Euro 2020 this summer and internationals in general.

If you had to choose between the two on a homegrown side, Arsenal’s big-money summer signing would win the bid.

But the Sunderland academy product likely has too much credit in the bank for his country to take off the main gloves at this point.

However, it will still spark a big debate among followers.
