English voice actor for Genshin Impact’s Tighnari faces allegations of inappropriate behavior

Elliot Gindi, best known as the English voice actor for Genshin Impact’s Tighnari, has come under fire over allegations of inappropriate behavior with fans online.

The allegations first came to light when a Twitter user called FretCore has published a lengthy Google document detailing the alleged violations. FretCore claims to have been a moderator on Gindi’s Twitch and Discord pages, and attached screenshots of apparent DMs Gindi had sent, including testimonies from apparent victims. Many of these testimonies describe behavior towards underage recipients, and discretion is advised before the document is reviewed.

Gindi replied in one extended tweet entitled “I owe an apology,” which read as follows:

“I am deeply sorry for those I have hurt. It was never my intention to hurt anyone. I tried to keep it overboard. I thought everything was consensual and safe. I tried to convince myself that with clear communication and clear boundaries I could make it ethical. I was so wrong and realizing it, that’s why I tried to clear everyone I know, unsubscribe and get therapy. To those who believed in me even after I got clean, I’m sorry I let you down. Please do not use this as an opportunity to beat other cast members or the game. Nobody knew.

What’s right: All screenshots of the chat logs. Yeah, all that crooked sex talk. Yes, I threatened suicide if it got out. I didn’t think about the severity. I’m sorry. I never intended to change anyone, they insisted they wanted to. I ended things, but later gave in to my emotional weakness and got involved again when I got the chance

What’s not true: That I knowingly did anything to a minor. That I didn’t respect someone’s pronoun changes. I didn’t “wait” for someone to turn 18 at 15. I flatly rejected her.

Re: Other questionable practices: There are times I’ve streamed in my boxers, but it was never meant with any sexual intent or focus. I didn’t realize it could be interpreted that way and I sincerely apologize to anyone who was made uncomfortable by this. Furthermore, I have not engaged with anyone in the manner described above except for these 3 people I have dealt with.

I understand that what I did was wrong and inappropriate and have tried to the best of my ability to confess this to those I contacted. I have reacted inappropriately to situations where I felt desired, causing harm to so many people in the process. I understand that my actions have consequences and I am committed to taking my responsibilities as I strive to get better – and do it.”

Gindi’s list of acting credits also includes the Pokemon anime, in which he played the role of Billy in one episode. Genshin Impact voice actor Chris Faiella confirmed the allegations on Twitter.
