Erin Napier is in a pickle. On February 8, 2023, the popular HGTV host tweeted a lengthy request to one of her family’s favorite grocery brands: grillo’s pickles, She’s asking the company to improve their packaging since she’s been spilling and splashing so much. Her hilarious Twitter thread received plenty of feedback from others on the platform, who said they were equally frustrated with the difficult-to-open containers but too enamored with the pickles to give up. Napier also received a direct response from the company, which tickled subsequent Pickle fans.

Despite the company’s humble beginnings, Grillo’s Pickles has become a national sensation. After a job offer at Nike fell through in 2008, owner Travis Grillo decided to make large batches of pickles using his family’s centuries-old recipe and sell them out of the trunk of his ’84 Cutlass Supreme in New England. according to Inside Hook.

Around 8 a.m. on February 8, Napier decided to talk about it online in a series of tweets aimed at the company.

She wrote: “@GrillosPickles we need to talk. Everyone in my house is addicted to you. so much so that we recommend everyone we meet try Grillos. which brings me to this… (one thread)”

The mother-of-two continued, “I open multiple pickle containers weekly and almost lose my fingers and/or spill this delicious pickle water all over my shirt and/or counters. I struggle like a two year old trying to put on sneakers and I hurt myself.”

In her third tweet, Napier wrote: “It’s like in commercials where someone gets a concussion trying to close their suitcase. You have the power to make these grillos. They made the world’s best pickles. Let’s find a better container situation and save our fingers and shirts and save the world???”

Napier’s tweets clearly struck a chord, as many other pickle lovers agreed, including her best friend — and frequent “Home Town” guest — Mallorie Rasberry.

Rasberry wrote, “literally just cleaning up a pickle mess this morning,” to which Napier quipped, “of course, while you were making the usual pickle sammy for breakfast.”

One person who had the same problem multiple times replied: “Pickle juice tide tide over my kitchen counter every time. Best pickles though!”

Another wrote: “Preach it! Twice I got home from Costco and the container in my isolator bag broke open. Nothing beats cleaning the rest of my refrigerated items with pickle juice!”

Someone also posted a link to a YouTube tutorial for opening and closing Grillo’s pickles containers. She wrote, “They have an instruction video so I guess a lot of people have complained.”

In less than 20 minutes, Grillo’s Pickles responded to Napier’s amusing Twitter rant, writing: “Thanks for the love! We know the container can be frustrating. We are working to find a better option but it turned out to be a lot harder than we expected!!”

Napier then replied: “I will persevere! the juice is worth the squeeze,” adding a laughing emoji.

Though Napier uses social media frequently, including posting life updates on Instagram and live tweeting as episodes of “Home Town,” she has said she’s relieved she didn’t have access to it growing up.

In an Instagram post On December 22, Napier listed the many different creative pursuits she was involved in as a teenager, then wrote, “I’m so grateful I grew up without the overwhelming pressure of social media. As a highly sensitive artistic child, the criticism or silence of likes would have hurt me deeply. It would have shaped me into someone, something else.”

Napier was referring to a video she shared on her Instagram Stories Kate Winslet talks about kids and social media, Napier wrote: “In short, this is a place for adults who know who and what they are. Who have the discernment to discard what is not useful.”

Napier shared that she and her husband, Ben Napier, along with their closest friends, have reached an agreement that they will not buy their children smartphones until they are “adults.”

In February 2022, Napier used her Instagram Stories to target followers who had made unkind comments about her posts.

She wrote: “Let’s talk about something. There has been some additional rudeness in the comments over the last week or so. If you feel like you’re the kind of person who might leave your unsolicited rude opinion on social media, go ahead and unfollow me so I don’t have to do this for you. We’re not a good match, you know. It’s you, not me.”

That April Napier revealed on Instagram that she took an unannounced 40-day break from social media for Lent and had a friend post any work-related updates for her.
